“Have you ever went over a friend’s house to eat and the food just ain’t no good? I mean the macaroni’s soggy, the peas are mushed, and the chicken tastes like wood.”Wonder Mike, Sugar Hill Gang – Rapper’s Delight
Hip hop and food have a long and intertwined history. The genre has spawned many flavas and beefs, with numerous artists being inspired by culinary delights – A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Ham ‘N’ Eggs’, Nas’s ‘Fried Chicken’ and MF DOOM’s ‘Mm.. Food’ album are just a few examples. Following on from that heritage this book pays tribute to the music, culture and creativity of hip hop. Rapper’s Delight: The Hip Hop Cookbook celebrates the many humorous parallels between food and hip hop. Featuring thirty recipes inspired by the most renowned hip hop artists of today and yesteryear, each of the book’s dishes is accompanied by exclusive artworks created by our favourite illustrators. We have tried to ensure this book caters for cooks of all abilities. Whilst some of the recipes are designed to be quick and easy to make, others require a little more skill and patience.
